Hikings
Selkirk Overview: 4 hours, medium level.
Perhaps the most rewarding and stunning hike on the island is to Selkirk's mirador above San Juan Bautista, where he would look for ships appearing on the horizon. The 3km walk, gaining 565m in elevation, takes about 1½ hours of steady walking but rewards the climber with views of both sides of the island.
As you walk up, look for the signpost marking a path to the supposed ruins of Selkirk's hut.
"Sal si puedes" (Get out if you can): 4 hours, medium level.
It is a nature trail with multiple switchbacks. The path snakes through dense vegetation and verdant forests of acacia, eucalyptus, montrey cypress, montrey pine, and the native murtilla before culminating at the jagged Salsipuedes ridge. The views from here are exceptional, and include sweeping panoramas of San Juan Bautista and the blue waters of Bahia Cumberland that surround the Village.
El Yunque Square: 4 hours, medium level.
Starting at San Juan Bautista power plant, a short southbound road turns into a gentle nature trail that leads to the Plazoleta El Yunque (Plazoleta = Square), a serene forest clearing with a campsite. The site is also the spot where Hugo Weber, a German survivor of Dresden sinking, built a house whose foundations are still visible.
A steep and challenging hike, beginning at the Plazoleta El Yunque traverses dense forest to reach the saddle of El Camote, with offers sweeping views of the Island. Farther ahead, a more strenuous hike culminates at Cerro El Yunque.
Cerro El Yunque (The Anvil Hill) witch at 3,002 ft (915 m) is the highest point of Robinson Crusoe Island.
Centinella hill: 4 hours, medium level.
The hike to Centinela hill (cerro Centinela). It lasts 2 hours, and it’s accessed by the area of Pangal Bay (Bahía Pangal) and from town. From the hill the entire Cumberland Bay, the English Port and the immensity of the Pacific can be appreciated. At the top there are the ruins of the first Navy Radio station, destroyed by the strong winds in the place.

The Lobster Tour.
We will embark to visit the artisanal fishermen who will be in the middle of lobster extraction work, as well as different fish.
Our guide will tell us about each fishing process, as well as the history of the sustainable extraction of this resource (more than 120 years) that has allowed to achieve international certifications of high production standards.
The fishermen will give us some of their lobsters and we will continue sailing towards the Bay of Three Points where we can see the colonies of sea lions. There we will have lunch our lobsters with Chilean wines, beers and drinks. Then we will continue a tour of the wolfhound (sea lions) and a tour of the different bays on the way to the town.
Start time: 9am.
Return time: 3pm.
Estimated time: 6 hours.

Juan Fernández brings together the largest number of marine species unique in the world.
"Juan Fernández is an ocean treasure, not only for its natural wealth but also for its people who have managed to take care of this unique ecosystem in the world. We hope that Chile supports this community that wants the protection of this area".
Said Alex Muñoz, executive director of Oceana. https://oceana.org/

National Geographic carried out the Pristine Seas Expedition where they detected the highest density of fish in Chile: 2.3 tons of fish per hectare. Confirmed that 99% of the species are endemic and highlighted the sustainable management of the lobster.
It was not the first time that they participated in an expedition in the waters of the Juan Fernández archipelago, but-again-they found extraordinary details. Part of the National Geographic Pristine Seas team, he had already participated in an exploration with the NGO Oceana, with which in 2013 it was discovered that 99% of the species found there are nowhere else in the world. But in March, in a new expedition, they not only reaffirmed it, but they also explored the entire archipelago, reached greater depth - in which there would be new species - and verified that the waters of Juan Fernández concentrate the largest biomass of fish in the country.
"The kilos of fish per square meter is the highest we have found in Chile," says Enric Sala, a National Geographic explorer and founder of Pristine Seas. Few places in the world can overcome it, among them, the Galapagos Islands.
According to Sala, the waters of the archipelago have a biomass of coastal fish of 2.3 tons per hectare, something similar to that found in the Nazca Desventuradas Marine Park (close to the islands), but much more than in the Marine Park Motu Motiva Hiva (1.2 tons per hectare) and that in the coastal area of Easter Island, where there are only 0.45 tons per hectare.
